Towards a PhD Thesis on Simultaneous Localization and Mapping

چکیده
In this report we present our work plan in the development of a PhD thesis on Simultaneous Localization and Mapping for unstructured environments. In the first part of this document we introduce the problem, then we present the basic tools for Bayesian state estimation, and give a summary of the state of the art in the field. In the second part we present our work plan, together with our recent results. Our current results includes a Maximum Likelihood mapper and a state-of-the-art Rao-Blackwellized mapper.

Exploiting Semantic and Contextual Information in 3D, Dynamic Simultaneous Localization and Mapping
In this report is presented a work plan towards a PhD thesis on the Simultaneous Localization And Mapping problem. In the first part, an analysis of the problem is presented, followed by a survey of the state of the art. After pointing out some open issues, a research plan is then sketched.
متن کاملMap-merging in Multi-robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Process Using Two Heterogeneous Ground Robots
In this article, a fast and reliable map-merging algorithm is proposed to produce a global two dimensional map of an indoor environment in a multi-robot simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) process. In SLAM process, to find its way in this environment, a robot should be able to determine its position relative to a map formed from its observations. To solve this complex problem, simultan...
متن کاملEffects of Moving Landmark’s Speed on Multi-Robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping in Dynamic Environments
Even when simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) solutions have been broadly developed, the vast majority of them relate to a single robot performing measurements in static environments. Researches show that the performance of SLAM algorithms deteriorates under dynamic environments. In this paper, a multi-robot simultaneous localization and mapping (MR-SLAM) system is implemented within a...

The problem of autonomous navigation is one of efficiently utilizing available information from sensors and intelligently processing that information to determine the state of the robot and its environment. This thesis explores a topic often ignored in the Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) literature: the utility of including Negative Information as a means of aiding state-estimation...
